Renovating the Lady C - Aft

Now that she is upright and in the shop I can start renovation of the top side. I will start with the aft-end, the transom, slop well and old fuel lockers.

Slop Well and Fuel Lockers Removed by Sawzall

Since the Sawzall cannot cut flush, the removal will be completed with the anger sander.

I took the joint between the slop well bottom and front panel and cut it into sections to reveal the stitch-and-glue joint. This 12mm (½-inch) marine plywood is surprisingly dry and sound.

Stitch and glue joint cut out of LadyC after 25 years of use.

Renovating the Lady C - Flip

Now that I am done with the bottom modification, it is time to flip her over to work on the top.

What are not shown in these photos are the two come-alongs on the other side of the boat that are tied to the base of two tress. The come-alongs prevent the boat from flipping to far too fast. The process is pull a little with the truck, let the come-alongs out a little, pull a little with the truck, let the come-alongs out a little, so on and so forth.
